The Warmth

“Tonight is chilly
Come closer to me.”
He spread his hand,
She crawled to him.

He hugged her tight,
She kissed his cheek.
Under the blanket,
The warmth was enough
To fall asleep.

Looking at her innocence
He sighed.
Smelling her sweet fragrance
He smiled.

“Surely you look like your mother.”
Mumbling to himself,
He looked at the night sky.
Enormous stars are embroidered.

The Lonely Maiden

And the sun sets in the west.
The sky was red as fire.
I see the birds returning to their nest.
And the squirrels running faster.

I see a man waiting for his girl.
Old people slowly sipping into the tea.
I see a mother carrying her child’s bag.
Young lovers holding arms; dipped into glee.

And I return to my abode
Big but lonely, furnished yet empty.
I grab another bite of toast,
And I make another cup of tea.
I sit at my balcony to watch those stray dogs.
The pet cat of neighbor meows at me.

And I scroll down the news feed,
To see people having their love stories,
I see them sharing their photos; stating
‘Found a partner for a life worth sharing’.

And I go to bed each night
Waiting for another sunrise,
Clutching the pillow, eyes full of tears
To make it warm enough as if
An embrace from a passionate lover.

The Timeline

There was a calling in his eyes,
Which she couldn't ignore.
There was a spark between them,
Which he adored.

But they lived in a wrong timeline.
She knew, "He couldn't be mine."
As he couldn't get over;
With his lost heart.
And she was bound to another man
Whom she once loved.

They fell apart eventually.
Because you can't eat
The forbidden fruit but taste it.

All she had then was
His memories in
Her touchscreen phone.
But it never let her touch
His cheeks anymore.
